LAIP delegation visits Maputo, Mozambique to recover seized rice project

The Libya Africa Investment Portfolio (LAIP) reported yesterday that it received last Wednesday (26 November), the Nigerian Chargé d’affaires. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of LAIP, members of the High Committee for the Libya Africa Transit Corridors Project, and the Director of the African Affairs Department at the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The LAIP said the meeting forms part of the High Committee’s action plan to engage with the concerned African states, enhance regional cooperation, and advance the project according to the planned timetable.

It said that during the meeting, the Committee delivered a comprehensive presentation of the project’s routes and strategic objectives, reviewed the infrastructure to be implemented, and outlined the investment and development opportunities it will generate. The presentation emphasised the project’s capacity to strengthen Libya’s logistical position, support regional integration, and create wide-ranging economic and social impact across Libya and the African continent.

The LAIP reported that the Nigerian Chargé d’affaires expressed his appreciation for the importance of the project and the role it is expected to play. Both sides agreed to prepare for an expanded meeting between officials of the two countries to continue consultations and strengthen partnership within the framework of the project’s implementation.

The LAIP said this meeting follows a session held about two weeks earlier between LAIP and representatives of the African Union Commission, who welcomed the project, reaffirmed their support, and confirmed the Commission’s commitment to endorsing, promoting, and integrating it within the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA).
