Libyan German discussions include resumption of flights, opening of German Embassy’s visa section and economic and investment cooperation

Economy Minister Hwej reviews his ministry’s implementation of its 2023 plan and issues several directives

Tripoli based Libyan Acting Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Sheha, held a meeting yesterday with the German Chargé d’affaires to Libya, Daniel Schimsky, to discuss economic and trade cooperation and investment opportunities in the industrial and energy sectors.

The meeting discussed the status of German companies contracted for service and investment projects and the mechanism for resolving their status to resume operations.

Organising meetings between Chambers of Commerce and businesses and studying the resumption of German airline services through Libyan airports, were also discussed.

Germany urged to reopen its consular section
Meanwhile, in an earlier meeting, held last Monday (25 August), with the Director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abubaker Al-Tawil, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli, the German Chargé d’affaires discussed ways to support and consolidate bilateral relations and strengthen them in various fields to achieve the common interests of the two friendly peoples.

The Director of the European Affairs Department urged the Chargé d’affaires to work on opening a consular section in Tripoli to facilitate the issuance of Schengen visas for Libyan citizens.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of activating the Libyan German Joint Committee, given its role in coordination between the two countries in various fields.
