The Libyan Embassy in Sofia, Belgrade reported yesterday that Afriqiyah Airways’ Airbus A319 (registration 5A-ONI) is expected to return to Libya ‘‘within days’’.

The news comes after the craft conducted a successful test flight yesterday that lasted about three hours and flying at an altitude of more than 39,000 feet in Sofia’s airspace.

The craft had been stranded and grounded for eight years.‎

It will be recalled that the Libyan Embassy had first reported that the craft would be returning to Libya back in September this year. This followed an announcement of the resumption of maintenance and renovation in May.
