Libya’s Customs Authority reported last Friday (1 November) that it had conducted a study visit to Malta with the Maltese Customs Authority. Libya’s Customs Authority said the aim of the study visit was to learn about the latest developments and best international practices in the field of combating crime and drugs.

Its members working in the Container Control Chambers (CCP) in Tripoli and Misrata participated in this visit.

The Malta visit comes as part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Libyan Customs Authority and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The visit was organized in coordination with the Tripoli based Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and sponsored by the Export Control and Border Security Programme of the US Department of State. The Libyan Customs

Authority said this step aims to enhance the technical capabilities of Customs and improve work mechanisms to address challenges related to drugs and crime.
