8 Italian companies at ‘‘Made in Italy’’ pavilion in 50th Tripoli International Fair

Italian Trade Agency (ICE) re-establishes itself in Libya

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA / ICE) (Logo: Italian embassy).

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA / ICE) announced today that, as part of Italy’s participation as a strategic partner country with Libya, it is participating with a delegation of 8 excellent Italian stands representing the leading sectors of “Made in Italy”.

These sectors are furniture, design, planning, ceramics, building materials, craftsmanship, contemporary art, ceramics, handmade glassmaking and cosmetics, personal care products, and the medical sector.

B2B meetings
The ‘‘Made in Italy’’ exhibition space of 240 square meters with individual stands acting as ‘‘shop windows’’, ITA says, offers a meeting area and a space equipped for company presentations and B2B meetings.

With the help of attendants and interpreters the space will serve as a reference centre for all Italian and Libyan companies aiming to reinforce existing partnerships or create new ones.

Bilateral conference
The ITA also announced that a bilateral conference will be held on 16 May at 5.00 pm on the margins of the 50th Tripoli International Fair, where, in addition to institutional interventions and key economic partners in the sector, participating Italian companies will present their own products to an audience of sector operators, professionals and “opinion leaders” passionate about “Made in Italy”.

Among other scheduled activities at the event, a daily calendar of company seminars will be organized by ITA at the exhibition in the Italian pavilion.

Italy is Libya’s leading trade partner
ITA reminded that Italy is still confirmed and consolidated as a leading trade partner with Libya. In 2023, Italian-Libyan trade reached €9.06 billion, ahead of China (11.29%, €5.63 billion), Germany (11%, €5.48 billion), Greece (7.24%, €3.62 billion), Turkey (7.04%, €3.51 billion), Spain (6.33 %, €3.15 billion), and France (5.48%, worth 2.33 billion euros).

Italy third largest supplier of Libya
Also. for 2023, Italy confirms its position as the third largest country supplying Libya after China, with a value of €3.6 billion euros, up 63% compared to 2022, and a market share of 19.24%. Turkey’s share is €3.01 billion euros, up 12.04% compared to 2023 with a market share of 16.11%.

Italy the first destination market for Libyan exports
The 2023 trade statistics also confirm and consolidate the fact that Italy is still the first destination market for Libyan exports with a market share of €23.62 billion, ahead of Germany (15.77% and €4.91 billion), Spain (9.15% €2.85 billion), France (7.82% and €2.85 billion) and China (6.52% and €2.032 billion).
