Orkin Libya, the Libyan franchise of the American pest control company Orkin, organized a free-of-charge workshop on Monday for inspectors of the Libyan FDCC (Food and Drug Control Centre).

The training covered Food Safety Inspection Fundamentals Related to Pest Control. Approximately 30 participants from FDCC attended, including representatives from the FDCC branches in Tripoli, Janzour, Zawia, Jafara and Sug il Juma.

Presentations included:

  • Practical Guidelines and Pest Control Fundamentals for FDCC Inspectors
  • A Case Study of food facility inspections from Saudi Arabia
  • Protecting the Supply Chain in the Food Production Industry.

Simon Williams, Orkin Libya General Manager told Libya Herald, “Pest control is an integral part of food safety and ensuring that the food that Libyans eat meets international quality standards. The FDCC inspectors play a vital role in this process, and Orkin is happy to be able to share its extensive knowledge in order to support the FDCC’s efforts and help protect the Libyan food supply.”

Ron Harrison, Orkin Global Technical Director said, “Orkin regularly supports food safety initiatives in various countries, and we are happy to be involved in Libya. Orkin applies the same worldwide standards wherever it is, so FDCC can be confident that the information we are sharing with them today reflects international best practices.”
