Libya’s Acting Minister of Economy and Trade, Ali Al-Abed, met American renewable energy company Solarcode in Tripoli Wednesday to discuss investment opportunities in the sector and the possibility of implementing projects that contribute to the development of the sector, meet energy needs locally, and create export opportunities in the region.
The meeting included the head of the Privatization and Investment Board (PIB), the head of the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL) and Directors of the Economy Ministry’s Departments of Private Sector Development, Investment, Foreign Trade, and International Cooperation.
The Minister reiterated that Libya is rich in the natural resources necessary to produce renewable and clean energy, which is one of the priorities of his government in developing infrastructure and supporting the national economy and the investment sector.
Solarcode describes itself as a design/build power plant developer providing the development, construction, and maintenance of its solar and steam-based power plants for clients as well as providing electricity to the wholesale market/grid.
It is based out of Switzerland with its U.S. headquarters in the U.S. sunbelt near Phoenix, Arizona. It also has a corporate office for the Middle East and North Africa in Casablanca, Morocco. In addition to officers in Istanbul, Turkey; Mumbai, India, Doha, and Qatar.
