Akakus Oil Operations Company announced Tuesday that it had successfully increased oil production and reduced unwanted water production at two wells.
It revealed that using solely nationals, its Planning and Development Department, in cooperation with the Drilling and Well Maintenance Department and the Pumps Department, was able to improve the productivity of the well (A06-NC115) in the Sharara field, with an increase of 1,400 barrels of oil per day and the isolation of no less than 4,000 barrels of associated water.
This achievement was the result of benefiting from previous experiences and scientific discussions that eventually led to the development of an integrated plan that was crowned with success, it explained.
It reported that its team in charge of the Planning and Development Department evaluated the productivity of a group of wells through well narration tests (PLT) and then studied and evaluated the results.
The appropriate method was adopted and implemented to isolate the layers producing associated water and keep the layers rich in oil reserves. This process was carried out professionally, as the rate of unwanted water production was reduced from 4,535 barrels per day to zero barrels per day.
Meanwhile, crude oil productivity was improved from 745 barrels per day to 2,194 barrels per day, an increase of 1,449 barrels per day.
Akakus reported that it had also recently carried out a similar operation to well (A-15NC115), and the initial results showed the success of the operation by reducing water production from 4,000 barrels per day to 1,000 barrels per day while maintaining the previous oil production. The well is still under evaluation in the long term.
It further explained that this reservoir is considered one of the reservoirs that operate by piston displacement, as the isolation of the layer reached by the water is necessary to reduce the production of associated water.
