London, 18 June 2021:
A high-level team from Algeria’s state electricity and gas utility SONELGAZ arrived in Tripoli yesterday and held extensive meetings with their counterpart, the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL).
GECOL reported that phase one discussions on its Urgent Plan to increase generation centred on making the necessary arrangements for the installation of mobile power generation units in Tripoli to support the electrical network, maintenance of some generation units and transmission lines, training and the activation of the 400 KW Libyan-Algerian electricity connection through Ghadames.
It will be recalled that the two entities had signed a wide cooperation agreement on 27 December 2020.
