London, 1 June 2021:

Libya’s Economy Minister Mohamed Hwej led the Libyan delegation to the Algerian Libyan Economic Forum held from 29-31 May in Algiers.

The Libyan delegation included the heads of the Privatization and Investment Board (PIB), Benghazi’s Elmreisa Free Zone (EFZ), Misrata Free Zone, the Libyan Export Promotion Centre, the head of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, the Libyan Industrial Union, Libyan Business Councils, businessmen and women, and several public and private sector companies.

The Libyan-Algerian Forum discussed several concluded agreements and ways to develop and activate them, enhance cooperation in several areas, raise the level of trade exchange between the two countries, and mechanism for supporting the private sector and networking between businessmen.

The Forum also included a discussion session on investment projects that are intended to be implemented within the investment map of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, and the implementation and activation of free zones in the country.

Algerian Minister of Trade, Kamal Rezig, stressed the importance of this forum and its great role in opening cooperation between the two countries.

The Forum also included an exhibition of Libyan and Algerian products with the participation of several Libyan companies representing the private sector.

The Economy Ministry said that its participation and that of its affiliates comes within the framework of implementing its Libya-wide investment map for supporting national industry, achieving economic development and implementing investment projects through partnership between local and foreign private sector.
