The state Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO) announced yesterday that a new power transformer with a capacity of 90 MVA arrived (13 March) for the second furnace at Steel Factory number 1.
The transformer weights 120 tons without oil and 160 tons loaded with oil.
The transformer will increase the production capacity of Steel Plant 1 by 200,000 tons per year of liquid steel.
LISCO says the transformer upgrade comes within its plan to increase production capacity and develop its facilities to reach 4 million tons of liquid steel annually.
