Live 32 calibre small arms ammunition which exploded when thrown onto a fire are reported to have injured three young people in western Sirte today.
The children aged between 13 and 15 were taken to Misrata hospital where their injuries were said not to be life-threatening.
Unexploded ordinance and mines still litter Sirte and the operation to clear the town of the danger has only just begun.
It was also reported today that 20 rockets had been found in a valley south of the town, along with the decomposing body of a man thought to be an IS terrorist. It is unclear if this is in the areas struck by US bombers eight days ago when some 90 terrorist suspects were killed.
Meanwhile Sirte mayor Mukhtar Al-Madani is working on bringing back fellow citizens who, after fleeing the town when IS took over, have survived as Internally Displaced People elsewhere in country.
Madani today saw officials from Libya Telecom, the departments of education, housing, water and sanitation as he sought to restore basic services and re-establish some semblance of normality. He is continuing to press the Presidency Council to provide compensation to those whose properties were damaged or totally destroy in the Bunyan Marsous operation to defeat IS.
