Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) reported today that its Chairman, Mohsen Al-Sagoutri, met today with Gianluca Alberini, the Italian Ambassador to Libya, and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two sides.

Alaa El-Din Baba, Director of the Marketing and International Cooperation Department at MFZ, told Libya Herald that the meeting reviewed avenues for cooperation and investment that would benefit both Libya and Italy, as well as potential projects to be established within the Free Zone.

Baba added that the meeting focused on opportunities the Free Zone offers to Italian investors and companies, highlighting the zone's strategic location as a key gateway to the African continent and the resulting prospects for trade, investment, and market access in Africa.

The meeting addressed several topics of mutual interest and explored ways to strengthen the presence of Italian companies in the Zone, enabling them to capitalize on available investment opportunities.

Baba noted that fostering cooperation with the Italian business community is a priority for the Free Zone, aiming to facilitate investment projects and partnerships that yield mutual benefits.

MFZ said the meeting takes place against the backdrop of growing economic relations between Libya and Italy and increasing interest in the investment and partnership opportunities offered by the Zone to Italian companies.

It added that the recent period has seen several meetings and initiatives aimed at fostering cooperation between the Free Zone and the Italian business community.
