Libya has topped the list of countries benefiting from scholarships offered by Italy, with 100 students receiving awards valued at over 800,000 euros for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The news was revealed by the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, during a merits certificates distribution ceremony held at the Ambassador’s Tripoli Residence last night for the winners of scholarships awarded by the Italian government.
The ceremony award coincided with the 26 World Italian Language Week.
Ambassador Alberini stated that this represents a true global record for Libya, which has secured the highest number of these ministerial scholarships.
He noted that studying in Italy offers the opportunity to join a long-established university system—one that is open to research and innovation—while also gaining firsthand experience of Italian culture and society.
