The Libyan pavilion at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026 opened yesterday in Kuala Lumpur, featuring several Libyan companies showcasing their products to buyers, importers, and businesspeople from Malaysia and other countries.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, Essam Al-Awl; the Chairman of the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anwar Abu Sitta; and the Director of the Private Sector Development Department at the Ministry of Economy, Hassan Kamel. Also, present were officials and representatives from Malaysian economic and commercial institutions, as well as representatives from the Libyan Embassy in Malaysia.
The pavilion features Libyan products such as dates, honey, olive oil, and cleaning supplies, among others. Visitors and buyers showed keen interest in learning about the participating companies and their products, as well as exploring opportunities for commercial cooperation.
In an exclusive statement to Libya Herald, Essam Al-Awl, Chairman of the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, said that Libya’s participation in MIHAS 2026 aims to establish direct channels between Libyan companies and foreign markets. He noted that the exhibition offers an opportunity to understand market needs and explore export and partnership prospects with Malaysian and international companies.
Al-Awl added that the focus of this participation extends beyond merely showcasing products to building business relationships that could translate into contracts and export opportunities for Libyan companies. He emphasized that the Authority is working to increase the presence of national products in specialized exhibitions and international markets. He explained that the Authority, with the support of the Minister of Economy of the Tripoli based Libyan government, seeks to select exhibitions that offer Libyan companies genuine opportunities to connect with buyers and importers, thereby helping to expand market access for national products.
Libya’s participation in MIHAS 2026 is part of efforts to boost exports and diversify markets for national products through direct engagement with companies and buyers in international markets.
