Al-Hadba Al-Khadra General Hospital announced yesterday that it had performed six specialised cardiac ablation procedures on patients suffering from various heart rhythm disorders.
This comes as part of efforts to enhance medical services and alleviate patient suffering, the hospital added.
A heart ablation is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to correct irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias). Doctors guide thin, flexible tubes called catheters through blood vessels from the groin or wrist up to the heart, using heat, extreme cold, or electrical pulses to scar tiny areas of tissue that trigger faulty signals.
The hospital further reported that all procedures were highly successful—thanks to the outstanding efforts of the hospital’s medical, nursing, and technical staff—and the patients’ health conditions remained completely stable.
This initiative is part of a series of achievements the hospital aims to realise in its commitment to providing the best possible healthcare to citizens, the hospital concluded.
Localising provision of healthcare
It must also be noted that it comes as part of the Tripoli government’s initiative to localise the provision of healthcare to alleviate the burden on citizens who would normally have to travel abroad and pay privately for such complex operations.
But it also alleviates the burden on the state budget which often must fund a few of these types of operations in hard currency to be conducted abroad. However, demand is always higher than supply leaving many frustrated and encouraging corruption in the allocation of such funds.
