The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) issued a statement yesterday on the cybersecurity incident that it suffered three weeks ago, commenting specifically on the alleged publication of a sample of its data on the "Dark Web".
The CBL explained that the competent technical teams, in cooperation with international companies and experts, are continuing the work of verification and technical analysis to determine the nature and volume of the published data. It stressed that it originally dates back to the previous hacking operation, in which emergency plans were activated and its effects contained as soon as they were discovered.
The CBL affirmed its categorical rejection of entering into any negotiations or bargains involving extortion or responding to any demands that violate the legal and regulatory frameworks in force, and reassured everyone that basic banking services, customer accounts and the stability of the financial system continue to operate normally and completely safe and have not been affected by this development.
It pointed out that technical and criminal investigations continue in coordination with local and international security institutions to enhance the digital system and raise operational readiness.
