Al-Jouf Free Zone (Al-Joaf / Al-Jowf / Al-Jowfe / Al-Jawf) announced yesterday the start of operation of its Dry Port Free Zone based in the Kufra Municipality, deep in the southwest corner of Libya.
It said this comes as part of improving infrastructure and improving logistics and transit trade between Libya and Chad and Sudan and landlocked Sub-Saharan Africa in general.
Launch of transit convoy from Benghazi to Chad via Kufra It will be recalled that in September 2023 Benghazi Chamber of Commerce had announced the launch of the transit trade caravan (convoy) from the port of Julyana, Benghazi Free Zone to Chad, via Kufra.
The transit trade convoy, branded the Al-Jowfe Caravans, is conducted by the Al-Watan Transport and Logistics Services and Al-Watan Shipping Agencies. The Benghazi Chamber reports that company transports all types of goods in transit to Chad. Their service includes ‘‘protection and tracking through Libyan territory’’, passing through the Al-Jowfe Free Zone in the southern city of Kufra.
