Benghazi Chamber of Commerce reported today that it received Habibullah, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Libya, accompanied by a delegation comprising the Embassy’s Labor Counsellor and Legal Advisor, as well as representatives from the (Benghazi-based) Libyan Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The delegation was welcomed by the Acting Chairman of the Board, a Board member, and the Director of the Chamber’s Economic Affairs and International Relations Department.
The meeting addressed ways to open new avenues for cooperation and to strengthen trade and economic relations between the two sides, thereby fostering opportunities for partnership, investment, and the exchange of expertise.
The Chamber highlighted the economic projects and developments taking place in Benghazi and areas under the Libyan Government's authority, as well as the region's potential to serve as a significant regional commercial hub. It also showcased new and emerging projects, including the Julyana Free Zone, industrial zones, manufacturing facilities, warehousing, and infrastructure and international road projects that facilitate trade and transit.
Discussions also covered Bangladesh's capabilities in the industrial, pharmaceutical, and agricultural sectors—including its export capacity—and explored opportunities to leverage its expertise, professional personnel, and specialized workforce to meet market needs and support bilateral cooperation.
Both sides affirmed their readiness to enhance communication, establish channels for ongoing cooperation, facilitate the exchange of delegations and visits, boost trade, and explore partnership and investment opportunities, thereby paving the way for broader economic and commercial relations between Libya and Bangladesh.
