The Tripoli based Libyan government reported yesterday that its delegation held a meeting in Washington DC with representatives of American company Boeing, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the development of the country’s civil aviation sector.
The Libyan delegation was attending several meetings in DC on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank held in Washington, D.C. (13 to 18 October).
During the meeting, the frameworks of the strategic partnership between the two parties were reviewed, which includes providing technical, advisory and commercial support to modernize the Libyan civil aviation sector in accordance with international standards and best operational practices.
Enhancing Libya’s position as a regional aviation hub
The Libyan government delegation stressed that this cooperation comes within the framework of the government’s vision to rebuild the aviation sector and raise its operational efficiency, in line with the return of air traffic and the recovery of the national economy, coinciding with the imminent opening of a number of new airports, to enhance Libya’s position as a regional aviation hub.
The delegation included the Acting Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdel Sadig, the head of the executive team for the PM’s Initiatives and Strategic Projects, Mustafa Al-Mana, and the President of the Libyan Investment Authority, Ali Mahmoud.
Boeing was represented by Vice President of International Operations and Policy Mike Schnabel, Director of Sales for Africa – Commercial Aircraft, Keith Neda, Director of Sales Programmes for Africa, Andrew Pacelli, and Senior Director of International Operations and Policy, Thu Rajan.
