A reliable source informed Libya Herald that the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Naji Issa, met with Vivek Tyagi, Chairman and CEO of Numisma Bank, in Bangkok, Thailand.
During the meeting, they discussed the continued supply of cash dollar shipments to Libya, as well as the outcomes of currency distribution operations through commercial banks.
The source explained that the meeting—held on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank—addressed the progress of dollar supply operations and their distribution to commercial banks across the country, as well as the consistency with which foreign currency is being made available to citizens in accordance with established regulations.
The source added that both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination regarding the supply of additional shipments of cash dollars, tailored to the needs of the local market and aimed at strengthening the capacity of commercial banks to meet citizens' demands.
The source noted that these discussions are part of the ongoing cooperation between the Central Bank of Libya and Numisma Bank—which handles the supply of cash dollars to Libya—as part of the Central Bank’s efforts to regulate the foreign exchange market and curb transactions within the parallel market.
