As part of its development and modernization works, Benghazi’s Julyana Free Zone Port reported that it had installed advanced communication towers and camera surveillance systems in September.
The development works include the installation of an AirFiber system, a high-speed wireless communication technology system for transmitting data over long distances, facilitating operations between the Julyana Free Zone and the Ganfuda Storage Terminal.
A modern surveillance camera system was also installed, with 30 cameras in the administrative building and 27 in the Ganfuda Container Storage Area. All cameras were connected to a single system to unify surveillance and facilitate the tracking of container entry and exit.
Mahmoud Natfa, Head of the Communications and Surveillance Systems Office, explained to the Libyan News Agency that this upgrade is an important step towards enhancing the security and monitoring of the port and preventing any violations that could harm its reputation.
He added that work is underway to equip the port’s docks with a camera system and connect it to the network. The entire system will be handed over to the Security and Safety Department to enable it to perform its duties efficiently.
