World Bank’s new Tripoli headquarters inspected in anticipation of the resumption of its work from Libya

World Bank MENA Regional Economic Update optimistic on Libya’s prospects

The Tripoli based Libyan government reported today that the Head of the Executive Team for Prime Minister’s Initiatives and Strategic Projects, Mustafa Al-Mana, and the Managing Director of the Economic and Social Development Fund (ESDF), Yassin Al-Abyad, accompanied by the World Bank’s Resident Representative in Libya, Henriette von Kaltenborn, and the Bank’s security team, conducted a field visit of the World Bank’s headquarters in Tripoli.‎

The Tripoli government reported that the visit comes in implementation of the Prime Minister’s instructions regarding the return of international institutions and companies to Tripoli.

‎During the visit, the team reviewed the ongoing preparations to participate in the World Bank’s annual meetings, and agreed on the implementation steps to resume the World Bank’s work from Tripoli.‎

‎The preparations included equipping the building in accordance with approved international standards to be ready for the opening of the headquarters, as part of the World Bank’s support for development efforts and economic and social reform in Libya.‎
