Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, and the Audit Bureau head, Khaled Shakshak discussed strengthening the role of the Audit Bureau in following up on government expenditures, especially sectors directly related to the resources of the Libyan state.
Use of international auditors emphasised
During the meeting, held last Tuesday (26 August) at the Audit Bureau’s new Tripoli headquarters, the importance of assigning international audit firms was emphasized, to enhance the principles of transparency and accountability and consolidate financial discipline within public institutions.
Efforts to make new public sector salary payment system “Your Instant Salary” a success
The meeting also discussed the follow-up of the practical steps to make the new public sector salary payment system, “Your Instant Salary”, a success. The system was launched earlier this month in partnership between the Central Bank of Libya and the Ministry of Finance, with the aim of ensuring the immediate and orderly disbursement of salaries and developing public spending mechanisms to serve the citizen directly.
The two sides stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination, within the framework of supporting the management of public funds and enhancing confidence in the regulatory institutions.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister was led on a tour of the new Audit Bureau headquarters, where he praised efforts to develop the Audit Bureau’s infrastructure to enable it to perform its tasks more efficiently.
