Pretrial detention of Price Stability Fund chairman and 3 other officers for contract fraud

The Attorney General’s Office announced today that the chairman, and the trade, tender, and standards officials of the Price Stability Fund have been detained pending their trial for contract fraud.‎

‎The Chief Prosecutor at the Attorney General’s Office, found irregularities in contract procedures by the accused for the supply of 9,000 tons of rice in 2017, including a contract price difference of US$ 2.169 million. The accused also agreed to receive the food item despite its lack of requirements and conditions related to quality, and their knowledge of the lack of validity 3,000 tons of ‎‎the material for human consumption.

Thus, the defendants detained pending investigation.‎
