Misrata Chamber of Commerce reported last Wednesday (12 June) that it had signed a cooperation agreement, on the same day, with the Indian Economic and Trade Organization (IETO) in Tunis.
The signing was conducted Fathi Al-Amin Al-Turki, Chairman of Misrata Chamber, and Asif Iqbal, Chairman of IETO.
The signing took place on the margins of the seventh edition of the Financing Investment and Trade in Africa Conference (FITA 2024) held in Tunis from 11 to 12 June. The event is organised by the Tunisian African Business Council (TABC).
India seeks to expand trade in Africa and Libya specifically
This agreement, Misrata Chamber reported, aims to develop a framework of cooperation to enhance trade and investment opportunities for the members of the two parties. It reported that there is support from India to stimulate trade with African countries.
According to Misrata Chamber, ‘‘the Indian side requested the signing of the agreement, because of the importance of Libya, as India has many activities and large investments in African countries, and it seeks to have the same activity with Libya’’.
A delegation from IETO will visit the Misrata Chamber at the end of July.
