Misrata Chamber of Commerce receives Genoa Chamber of Commerce delegation – delegation also meets Municipal Council

Misrata Chamber of Commerce holds meeting with companies to discuss HoR’s new tax bill

Fathi Al-Amin Al-Turki, Chairman of Misrata Chamber of Commerce, along with Abubakr Abdulbari Shanab, the Chamber’s Director General, and in the presence of several department heads, received yesterday a visiting Italian delegation at Misrata Chamber’s headquarters.

The delegation consisted of Luigi Attanasio, President of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce, and Stefano Pommata, Director of the Messina Shipping Line for the Mediterranean region, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to strengthen economic relations and exchange expertise between the two sides.

Al-Turki opened the meeting by introducing the industrial companies affiliated with the Chamber and their role in supporting the national economy. Discussions also focused on key ways to enhance cooperation and open new avenues for partnership in various commercial, industrial, service, and agricultural sectors.

The meeting concluded with an official invitation to the visiting delegation to encourage Italian companies to participate in and visit the 6th African Building Exhibition 2026, scheduled to be held from May 2-5, 2026, hosted by the city of Misrata.

At the conclusion of this meeting, a visit was made to the Chamber’s new administrative building.

Misrata Municipal Council
The Italian delegation had also met with Misrata Municipal Council the previous day.

The meeting focused on discussing available economic opportunities and exploring ways to coordinate and enhance trade cooperation between the two sides. This cooperation aims to support economic activity and develop joint relations and investment opportunities between the cities of Misrata and Genoa in various sectors.

The delegation also visited the Municipal Hotel, where they toured its facilities and learned about the city’s service and investment potential.
