Presidential Council head Mohamed Al-Menfi torpedoed the controversial NC7 Hamada field deal with a foreign consortium.
Speaking during a meeting with Oil and Gas Minister Mohamed Aoun, Menfi’s media site reported that he had stressed the need for priority to be given to national companies working in the oil field to develop the field.
He stressed that the percentage agreed for the foreign consortium is ‘‘very large and exaggerated and is considered a waste of public capabilities, in violation of the applicable national legislation, and a clear violation of the provisions of the political agreement’’.
Menfi stressed the necessity of implementing what was stated in the letters sent by the House of Representatives, the High State Council, the Attorney General, and the Audit Bureau regarding ‘‘not obligating the Libyan state to bear any future burdens during the current transitional phase’’.
