Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) reported yesterday that the largest container-loaded ship to enter Libyan ports, the ship FLORA, docked yesterday at MFZ.
The ship arrived from Jebel Ali Port (Dubai, UAE), at 300 meters long and 40 meters wide, and the largest draft entering MFZ at more than 12.5 meters deep.
The ship is carrying 5,250 TEUs, including 4,481 transit containers, to be shipped to the ports of Hamburg and Hankins Buttel in Germany, Naples in Italy, Santos in Brazil, and Damietta in Egypt.
MFZ reported that this is the first time a commercial container ship with a load exceeding 3,000 containers entered Libyan ports, and with a draft exceeding 12.5 metres. The entry and docking manoeuvres it added, were carried out, under difficult weather conditions, by Libyan crews.
