Eni, BP and Sonatrach lift force majeure, resume contractual obligations in their oil and gas blocks

Libya’s state National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced Thursday that it had received official notifications from Italy’s Eni and Britain’s BP regarding the lifting of force majeure and the resumption of exploration and contractual obligations in the blocks awarded to them in the Ghadames Basin (A-B) and offshore Block C.

The NOC also confirmed receiving an official notification from the Algerian company Sonatrach regarding the lifting of force majeure and the resumption of exploration and fulfilment of contractual obligations in its blocks 065 and 96/95 in the Ghadames Basin.

The NOC said this comes in response to its invitation to global oil and gas companies, which have signed exploration, sharing, and production (EPSA) agreements in Libya, to lift their declared force majeure.

In this context, the Board of Directors of the NOC reiterated its call to remaining companies that have not yet lifted the force majeure in their respective areas to resume their activities and contractual obligations.

The NOC emphasized its role in safeguarding the national interests of the Libyan state to achieve its vision of restoring Libya’s leading and effective role in the energy sector.
