Libya’s Minister of Transport, Mohamed Shahoubi, and the head of the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority, Mohamed Shlebek, visited the Canadian company Aeronav at its Montreal headquarters last Friday. The visit came on the side lines of their visit to the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal.

Aeronav specializes in Integrated Air Traffic Control (ATC) Systems, Prefabricated VCR’s, Mobile ATC Towers, Ground-based Radio Navigation Aids (NavAids), Airfield Lighting Systems, Power Supply Systems and Control Tower Design.

Reluctance to bid in tenders
The Ministry of Transport reported that the Minister discussed with Aeronav’s management the reasons for the reluctance of foreign manufacturing companies to participate in project bids announced by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Action taken to hasten payment of outstanding dues
It also reported that the Minister explained that Libyan government executive procedures were recently approved that respond to the Aeronav’s demands to ensure the procedures for transferring its financial dues flowed without unjustified delay.

Aeronav ready to return to Libya
The Transport Ministry further reported that Aeronav’s chairman ‘‘expressed his deep appreciation for the visit and his happiness for the explanations he listened to, stressing his readiness to return to work in Libya as soon as possible’’.
