London, 6 August 2021:
The Libyan government imposed a complete lockdown for Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the western region. The other regions are exempt.
Chemists, small food shops and bakeries will be excluded.
The complete lockdown follows on from the partial 6pm to 6am curfew in place over the last two weeks.
Public urged to get vaccinated
It will be recalled that the public have been urged to go and get vaccinated at over 430 nationwide vaccination centres to mitigate the spread of the pandemic and as a national duty. Unlike previously, they now no longer need to be registered on the Health Ministry’s online system.
Lockdown effect
The Coronavirus infection rate in Libya has now dropped from a high of 68 percent to 21 percent according to the latest statistics reported by the NCDC yesterday. The government put this down to the partial lockdown announced last week.
As of yesterday, 737,417 Libyans and non-Libyans had been vaccinated in Libya.
