(NCDC).

London, 28 July 2020:

Libya announced 158 new Coronavirus cases yesterday, taking its total to 2,827 cases. There are now 2,186 active cases with 577 recoveries and 64 deaths, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said.

Libya has struggled to control the spread of the virus with citizens not following health instructions with regards to mask-wearing and social distancing.

On 18 July the Tripoli Libyan government had extended yet again the current curfew until 2 August. This had included the closure of airports and land borders, but on Sunday 26 July Misrata airport was reopened to commercial flights – but only for outgoing passengers.

Tripoli’s Mitiga airport is planned for a reopening sometime in August, but with Coronavirus cases still rising, it is still unclear when airports and land borders will be reopened for incoming passengers.
