London, 7 November 2019:

Libya’s Misrata-based state Iron and Steel Company, LISCO, is investigating the possibility of using local minerals and ores for its production.

The revelation came after a meeting last Wednesday in the company’s Misrata headquarters between LISCO and the Ministry of Economy and Industry and Libya’s National Mining Company.

The meeting discussed further studies and investigations in the availability of local minerals or ores that LISCO can use instead of being dependant on imported raw material purchased using hard-to-come-by hard currency.
