London, 25 January 2018:
Tamenhint airport, near Sebha, re-opened yesterday with the arrival of the first flight from Benghazi’s Benina airport.
The airport was notably re-opened with the help of the eastern-based and internationally unrecognized Interim Government of Abdulla Thinni and not the Serraj-led Presidency Council in Tripoli.
The airport was previously a military base and had been the subject of fighting between Tripoli and eastern-based forces. it is now aligned with Hafter and his LNA forces.
Reports said that flights will also start to Tripoli’s Mitiga airport next week.
