London, 25 January 2018:

The number of deaths emanating from the double-car Benghazi bombings has risen to 41 and injuries are reported as 80, according to the Tripoli-based state news agency, LANA.

The update comes as the House of Representatives announces three days of official morning. The tragedy has received wide national and international condemnation

Meanwhile, the Faiez Serraj-led Presidency Council (PC) in Tripoli announced that it is arranging ‘‘whatever is needed’’ for victims of the bombings to receive treatment in Tunis. This includes the arrangement of an air bridge to fly victims from Benghazi to the Tunisian capital in order to receive treatment.

The PC stressed that it will continue uninterrupted and with all its resources in countering terrorism in Libya and in pursuing its perpetrators until its eradication from its roots.

Libya’s internationally recognized parliament, the House of Representatives, has called on the international community to help Libya in fighting terrorism as UNSMIL head Ghassan Salame paid a visit to the east yesterday.

Egypt has also announced that it was taking a number of injured for treatment.
