The army has appointed a military officer to run another district in the east, bringing to a dozen the number of municipalities where the mayor has been fired and replaced by Cyrenica’s military governor Major-General Abdul Razzak Al-Nazhuri.
The latest municipality to have the change imposed is Al-Sahil, also known as Al-Dirsiyah, between Marj and Beida. It contains the towns of Tolmeita, Batta, Al-Bayyadah and Qasr Libya.
So far elected mayors have been replaced in Abyar, Ajdabiya, Benghazi, Derna, Kufra, Marj, Shahat, Sidra, Suluq, Tobruk and Ben Jawad which is a military zone.
