One of the units protecting the Mellitah oil and gas complex, some 20 kilometres east of Zuwara, was reportedly attacked early this morning and four of it members seized. A vehicle also belonging to the unit, named as the Amu detachment, is also alleged to have been stolen.
The culprits are said to be ordinary but well armed thieves from Zuwara and robbery the motive. There is no suggestion that the complex was in any danger. The attack took place nearby.
It is also reported that some of the unit were injured as a result of the attack but, again there has been no confirmation so far.
