There are unconfirmed reports that the Mellitah gas cleaning plant near Zuwara has been blockaded . . .[restrict]today by protestors.
It is unclear if suggestions that production has been shut down are correct. Part of the facility’s output feeds the GreenStream gas pipeline to Sicily.
Though some sources are describing the action as a strike, it is also being said that the plant has been obstructed by people from Zuwara who are demanding jobs within it. It was not possible to contact anyone at Mellitah this evening. [/restrict]
