Benghazi, 7 November 2015:
Mohamed Dayri has been officially been formally reinstated as foreign minister in the Beida-based Thinni . . .[restrict]administration.
Widely respected internationally, he was suspended by the government in September, following a decision by House of Representatives’ Administrative Control Committee to investigate him over what it called “administrative irregularities”. The government asked Deputy Foreign Minister Hassan Elsaghir to temporarily take over.
In fact, however, he has remained de facto foreign minister, taking part as such in last month’s meeting at the UN in New York on the Libya Dialogue process at which numerous international foreign ministers and top officials called on Libya to sign the UN-brokered Dialogue deal. He has also continued acting as foreign minister elsewhere abroad, including talks in Cairo.
He is due in Tunis at the beginning of the week. [/restrict]
