Derna, 8 August 2015:
In an another revenge incident today in Derna, a car belonging to a Islamic State . . .[restrict](IS) supporter was blown up near the town’s Azzouz roundabout.
The practice of destroying anything belonging to IS members – whether cars or homes – has now become well established since IS were forced out in June by forces of the Shoura Council of Mujahideen (SCMD).
Meanwhile, clashes were reported today on Derna’s east coast after IS started bombarding the area from the Fataiah farm area outside the town where it is still based. The Mujahideen fired back.
Elsewhere, outside the town, explosives found near Al-Hila checkpoint were diffused. They apparently had been left by IS forces during fight there yesterday in which the Mujahideen say they captured a number of vehicles.
It is also believed that yesterday’s air strike by the Libyan National Army on a boat heading for Derna port was a mistake. It had been claimed that the vessel contained ammunition and fighters. However, it is locally reported as having been just a fishing boat. [/restrict]
