Beida, 21 May 2015:
One man died and six people were injured in a shoot-out inside a Sebha hospital which . . .[restrict]saw patients fleeing in panic. The death and injuries appear to have been triggered by the theft of a motor car.
The vehicle was stolen from a member of the Awlad Suleiman tribe. Yesterday, apparently believing mistakenly that the thief had been a Tebu, armed men entered the Sebha Medical Centre and opened fire on three Tebus who were there. One of Tebu, aged 20, was killed and the others injured.
Tebus reportedly responded rapidly, shooting at and injuring five member of the Awlad Suleiman tribe. It was unclear if these were the original attackers at the hospital or others who were caught up in revenge attacks. An uneasy calm descended on Sebha today but there are real concerns that further violent incidents could take place.
