Cairo, 16 February 2015:
Egypt launched a second round of air strikes against IS targets in Libya this afternoon, . . .[restrict]after hitting positions near Derna in the morning.
Egyptian media is reporting that this afternoon’s attacks were also in and around Derna. Egyptian President Abdel Fatttah Al-Sisi has claimed that it is Egypt’s right and responsibility to avenge the deaths of 21 Egyptian Christians killed by IS militants in Libya.
Meanwhile, Egyptian armed forces are reported to be gearing up to protect Egypt from infiltrations from the Libyan border. The Navy has also been deployed to protect Egypt’s coastline from any attempt seaborne terrorist assault. [/restrict]
