Tripoli, 13 November 2014:
Foreign fighters appear to have died as Derna was hit by two further air strikes . . .[restrict]today after a succession air raids yesterday, which had continued late into the night.
The attacks on Ansar Al-Sharia positions appear to have been a swift response to yesterday’s suicide bombings in Tobruk and Beida.
It is understood that at least 13 people were killed in the Derna strikes and their bodies taken, along with an unknown number of wounded to Al-Haraish hospital. The majority of the dead were not Libyans according to the hospital.
There was also at least one air raid yesterday on an Ansar training camp on the outskirts of Sirte, where it is being reported that an ammunition dump was hit causing extensive explosions.
Meanwhile Libyan National Army troops along with units at Ain Mara claim to have killed between six and eight militants in clashes outside Derna with the town’s Shoura Council of Islamic Youth. Two of the militants’ “technicals” were also apparently destroyed in the engagement. LNA sources are saying that only one of their soldiers was hit in the fighting and suffered minor injuries.
