Tripoli, 13 September 2014:

A member of the Warshefana force has said that the most intense shelling since the . . .[restrict]beginning of the war took place in the Warshefana area yesterday.

According to an inside source, Libya Dawn forces attacked the area with heavy weapons, including tanks and self-propelled guns.

The entire region is under siege, he said, and residents whose homes are exposed to indiscriminate shelling are unable to leave. Yesterday’s bombardment is said to have caused 38 deaths and more than 80 people injured, including some who are in critical condition.

The main hospital in the area, Al-Zahra Hospital, is experiencing a severe shortage of medical supplies, mainly because Libya Dawn troops have blocked off the roads to prevent the delivery of food and medical supplies to the district. There have also been reports of killings of wounded people in ambulances transporting them to hospitals outside the area.

About 350 rockets landed yesterday in the Warshefana areas of Mamoura, Tmaina, Seyad, Al-Maya, Ghot Abusag and Zahra, the source said. The source said that the  Warshefana tribes are holding onto their positions, despite the intensity of the attack and the fact that the Libya Dawn force is three times the size of the Warshefana.
