Tripoli, 9 June 2014:
The spokesman for retired general Khalifa Hafter, Mohammed Al-Hijazi, has denied media reports that he had said . . .[restrict]that the attack on the Grand Mufti’s organisation Dar Al-Ifta was part of “Operation Dignity”.
“The allegations on different media sites reporting that I said the attack on Dar Al-Ifta was part of Operation Dignity are completely false,” Hijazi told the Libya Herald.
“We are fighting terror in Benghazi and would never have attacked the Dar Al-Ifta. This rumour was spread by the media in an attempt to turn people against Operation Dignity,” Hijazi insisted.
Asked about “Operation Dignity’”s actions on the ground in Benghazi, Hijazi said that “we were able to hit the terrorist havens hard in the areas of Al-Hawari, Sidi Faraj and Gwarsha in a special operation last night. Through this, we’ve made significant progress on the ground.”
Hijazi added that the operation would continue until Libya has been “cleansed of all terrorism”. [/restrict]
