Benghazi, 23, June 2014:
All Benghazi polling stations ought to be . . .[restrict]up and running on Wednesday, a member of the HNEC team said this evening.
The official, part of the logistics and support group organising the actual voting, spoke to the Libya Herald on the basis of anonymity.
He said: “At the moment there is no part of the city that will not have a polling station”. This, he said, included Sidi Faraj, Hawari, Gunfudah and Gwarsha, all areas where there has been recent fighting between Ansar Al-Sharia and the forces of Operation Dignity.
He added that polling stations had also been prepared in the Leithi district, where there is strong support for Ansar. “Every thing is ready” he insisted, “but of course we cannot know what may happen on polling day”. [/restrict]
