Tripoli, 25 May 2014:
The Ministry of Electricity has announced that it is ready for the anticipated extra load on . . .[restrict]the electricity network this summer.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Electricity Minster Ali Muhairiq said his Ministry had taken all measures to ensure there would be no electricity shortages, particularly over the month of Ramadan.
He added, however, that current security problems could cause blackouts if fuel supplies were embargoed by armed groups.
“A number of power stations across the country now are either completely repaired or are undergoing maintenance,” Electricity Ministry spokesman Wesam Shaban told the Libya Herald.
“We expect that the Gulf Power Station in Sirte will be connected to the national grid on 28 May, and two turbines at Sarir Power Station will also be connected before Ramadan.” He added that South Tripoli Power Station was also still undergoing work. [/restrict]
