Benghazi, 21 April 2014:
Attacks have continued to rock Benghazi, with an explosion at a beauty salon and the attempted . . .[restrict]assassination of a security official.
The explosion, near a beauty salon in the city’s Al-Keesh district, occurred at 6 am this morning, a local resident told the Libya Herald. He said the blast, caused by a bomb in a bag, destroyed the salon and several nearby vehicles. There were no casualties reported.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that while he had not heard about the incident, he said it came as no surprise. He said that explosions of this kind were becoming increasingly common in the city and added that this was not the first time a salon had been targeted.
Last night an attempt was made on the life of a Saiqa Special Forces member, whose name has not been made public for security reasons. The man was driving in the Laithi district when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle. He escaped unharmed, said the spokesman for Benghazi Joint Security Room, Ibrahim Sharaa. [/restrict]
