Tripoli, 22 November 2013:
The Libyan British Business Council (LBBC) has postponed its December finance delegation to Tripoli.
Director General of LBBC Robin . . .[restrict]Lamb told the Libya Herald that the decision was taken because the LBBC had: “received advice that the timing does not suit all our key interlocutors in Libya.” He added that a number of UK delegates had also raised concerns about the current security situation in Tripoli.
“We remain committed to organising the event, which will benefit both Libyan and UK participants,” Lamb said, adding that the finance delegation would be rescheduled for early 2014.
This is the second trade mission that LBBC has postponed this year, after a trade visit planned for May was rescheduled because of ongoing political problems in Libya.
A number of other business and cultural events have been postponed following recent clashes in the capital that left 47 dead and nearly 500 people wounded. [/restrict]
